Why is there fog between my window panes?
Moisture between the sealed panes can indicate that the glass unit’s edge seal has failed. It is different from condensation on the room-side or outdoor surface. We assess where the moisture is before recommending replacement.
Do I need a whole new window?
Not always. If the frame is suitable, glass-only replacement may be a good option. We also replace full windows and frames when that’s the better solution. We’ll assess your window, explain the options, and help you decide what’s right for your home.
What is an insulated glass unit, or IGU?
It is an assembly of panes sealed around a spacer, with a space between them. In a typical double-pane window, both panes are part of the same unit. Replacing that unit renews the glass assembly without automatically replacing the frame.
Is this a cleaning or defogging service?
Our fogged-window service focuses on replacing the affected sealed glass unit. Wiping the exposed surfaces cannot clean moisture trapped between the sealed panes. We assess the window to confirm whether replacement is appropriate.
The fog comes and goes. Should I mention it?
Yes. Tell us where you see the moisture and when it appears. A photo taken while it is visible can help with the initial conversation, but it is optional and does not replace an on-site assessment.
What will it cost, and how long will it take?
Size, glass specification, quantity, access, and frame condition affect the quote. We measure first and provide the price before ordering. The schedule depends on the glass specification, supplier availability, and installation scope.
What if I have a manufacturer’s warranty?
If you have warranty paperwork, check the coverage and claim process with the window manufacturer before authorizing replacement. Coverage varies by product and terms. We do not assume an existing warranty will cover the work.
